Darrelle Revis' Feelings Are Really, Really Hurt

NFL.comNew York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis has spoken with new Jets general manager John Idzik about the trade rumors surrounding him since Idzik joined the staff. But Revis still appears to be confused about how those trade rumors leaked out in the first place. “I was speechless; I tweeted it out I was speechless. I was speechless because I didn’t get a phone call,” Revis told NFL Network’s Andrea Kremer in an interview that aired Monday on “NFL Total Access.” “I know it’s a business — just call me; don’t have it lingering out there. I need answers and I’m not getting any. Just the fact that that was put out there instead of contacting your best player on the team. If that’s how you want to do business, then that’s fine.” …it sure sounds like Revis is holding on to the lack of communication as a perceived slight.

God help me, even when the Jets have faded into total bolivian, they still manage to find a way to make my offseason.  They’ve taken their one positive- a quality corner- and turned him into a pouting, butthurt, me-first, egomaniacal diva.  They’ve done it with years of groveling at Revis’ feet and treating him like he’s bigger than the team. Like that unseemly, humiliating display on “Hard Knocks” when Revis was on his 2nd career holdout and they spent half the episodes chasing him around the state begging him to come back?  Then when he finally deigned to grace the team with his presence (thanks to $32 million), they welcomed him back like he was the goddamned Messiah returning.  And now this is the thanks they get.  The monster they created has turned on them.  And when they find themselves with one of the worst teams in the NFL and $24 million over the salary cap (by comparison, the Pats are $19 million under), Revis is pissing and moaning because they’re not calling him every time they consider moving his contract.  This from a guy who’s already dropping hints about Holdout No. 3.  I mean, has anyone in sports been the subject of more trade rumors than Kevin Garnett?  You don’t see him running to Andrea Kramer calling himself the best player on his team and whining about how unfair it is.  But the Jets promote Revis like he’s above everyone else so they shouldn’t be surprised when he thinks he’s above everyone else.  No man is an island, except for him.  Couldn’t happen to a better organization.  @JerryThornton1
